Guitar Center Music Foundation


Mission Statement
"The Guitar Center Music Foundation believes that music participation is an essential element in the fabric of an enduring society.  Our mission is to have the benefits of making music available to everyone in the communities in which we serve, to promote its importance through education and media initiatives, and to provide financial and in-kind resources in collaboration with other organizations to achieve our common goal."

Areas of Focus:
  • Music Instruction exclusively
Requirements:
  • 501 (c) (3) status or a governmental organization
  • established, ongoing and sustainable music program which provides music instruction for people of any age who would not otherwise have the opportunity.
  • Music instruction based - NOT appreciation or entertainment
Exclusions:
  • Programs in which the participants/students are professional or career musicians
  • General operating expenses, including rent, utilities, supplies, travel expenses, etc.
  • Items or funds to benefit individuals, including scholarships, stipends or salaries
  • Seed money
  • Event sponsorship
  • Music production equipment and/or expenses
  • Recording studio equipment and/or expenses, including those used for educational purposes
  • Instrument repairs
  • Uniforms
  • Sheet music
Deadline
There are no deadlines.  Applications are accepted year-round and are reviewed about every 4 months.

Type of Funding
"Almost all of the grants we award are traditional instruments and the equipment necessary to play them.  In specific instances, we have also awarded microphones and PA systems.  In order to be eligible for a grant, the instruments and/or equipment must stay in the program for the life of the instrument/equipment and must be played/used by the participants.  We also award signed music memorabilia, which the program can sell or auction to raise money to purchase instruments or equipment (as previously described)."
